The Libyan Sibyl is named Phemonoe. The word Sibyl comes from the ancient Greek word sibylla, meaning prophetess. There were many Sibyls in the ancient world, but the Libyan Sibyl, in Classical mythology, foretold the "coming of the day when that which is hidden shall be revealed."

This painting was inspired by a trip to the Sistine Chapel, and is a copy of the original painting by Michelangelo.

Please note this piece has some slight speckling on the reverse, however this does not effect the quality or longevity of the painting.
